HOW IT ALL BEGAN
In October of 1995, Sheryl began
attending Murray Presbyterian Church. Marty McDaniel was the pastor
at the time.
On December 3, 1995, Sheryl became a
member of the church by Reaffirmation of Faith.
On January 19, 1996, Sheryl and Ron
Kixmiller were ordained as Elders of the church. These two, being
new, went to class together. Sheryl also remembers Janice Hewett as
being an elder at the time.
A special, called congregational meeting
was held on December 8, 1996, at 11:50AM. The meeting was called for
the purpose of nominating and electing church officers for the class
of 1999. The meeting was opened with prayer by moderator, Pastor
Martin C. McDaniel and a quorum was declared as being present. Elder
Jack Fullerton, chair of the Session Nominating Committee presented
the nominees for Elder. Sheryl Cobb, Sue Dindinger, Ron Kixmiller &
Drew Swedlund (one year, student Elder) were elected. Sheryl served
3 years from (1997-1999).
Sometime in 2006, Sheryl started helping
John Meeske and Wes Hewett counting the offering on Sunday morning.
The Hewett’s moved to New York in October 2006. At the beginning of
January 2007, Sheryl was voted on to take the place of Wes as
Co-Treasurer with John. Thus began her devotion, commitment and
years of Christian service and volunteering countless hours serving
as your church treasurer.
Sheryl was elected as a member of the
Pastor Nominating Committee in January 2006, along with other
members Rich Gregerson, Karen Savage, Ann Wieringa, Denise Ayers,
Kari Drake and Sue Buresh.
Sheryl was also on the Building Committee
for 2-3 years during the addition of the office and restroom. She
helped to gather the samples for the carpeting, kitchen counter tops
and the linoleum for the kitchen and bathrooms.
